What we help with

Back pain is the top reason people visit a chiropractor in Taunton, and neck pain is the second most common. Here are the problems we see most.

Talk to the receptionists
  1. 01

    Back Pain

The most common reason people visit the clinic. Treatment combines soft-tissue work to ease muscle tension with gentle spinal adjustments.

  2. 02

    Neck Pain

The second most common complaint we treat, often linked to long periods at a desk or driving.

  3. 03

    Trapped Nerve

When a nerve is pinched or compressed it can cause significant pain.

  4. 04

    Sciatica

Pain related to the sciatic nerve, the body's largest nerve. Many patients are referred by their GP.

  5. 05

    Shoulder Pain

Persistent shoulder aching that gets in the way of daily life.

  6. 06

    Headache

One of the most common complaints at the clinic, including tension and cervicogenic headaches.

  7. 07

    Sports Injury

Many athletes sit out with injuries that could have been prevented. Care can help prevent or treat them.

  8. 08

    Slipped Disc

When the soft inner material of a spinal disc bulges through its outer layer and may press on the spinal nerves.

  9. 09

    Migraine

Severe, recurring headaches that can include visual disturbances (aura), plus advice on prevention.

  10. 10

    Arthritis

A common condition causing joint pain, swelling, inflammation and stiffness.

  11. 11

    Jaw Pain

Jaw pain and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) syndrome, including clicking and morning jaw pain.

Treatments

Not sure what you need?

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can't find what you need? Call 01823 336 886 or email [email protected].

Most clients are treated on their first visit. In complex cases the chiropractor may wait until they have medical records, or suggest an X-ray or MRI. Some patients prefer a consultation only.

The two professions differ in philosophy and technique. Chiropractic emphasises neurology and diagnostic imaging, while osteopathy emphasises soft tissues. Both treat similar conditions, we have both at the clinic, and both are regulated.

Loose, comfortable exercise-style clothing rather than bulky items like jeans. Underwear is fine for the examination, and you may not need to undress for later sessions.

Please give 24 hours' notice by phone. Late cancellations incur a fee of half the treatment cost, and missed appointments are charged in full. Reminders are sent by text and email.

Simple movement tests on your muscles, nerves, ligaments and joints to identify the cause of your pain. The chiropractor then explains the findings and tailors treatment to you. Some extras, such as acupuncture and massage machines, are included at no charge.

Chiropractors are trained to spot conditions that need referral elsewhere. Risks from manipulation are usually mild and temporary, and any significant risk is discussed beforehand.

A consultation can determine whether your pain is muscular or involves joints and ligaments. Depending on the findings, the chiropractor may recommend massage, chiropractic treatment, or both.

It varies with the severity, duration and nature of the problem, plus your age, health and occupation. Research suggests an average of 4 to 6 treatments, and some patients have occasional maintenance sessions every 3 to 6 months.

Up to an hour for the first appointment and about 30 minutes for follow-ups. Times can vary depending on the treatments.

No paperwork is required. A list of medications and any previous scans or letters can help but are optional. We can request copies of past X-rays or MRIs with your consent.

No referral is needed, though many GPs recommend the clinic.

Yes, our chiropractors are registered with major insurers. You pay the clinic directly and receive a detailed receipt to claim back. Check your policy's chiropractic cover first.

Yes, each treatment room has a chair or sofa for a companion. Clients under 18 must bring a chaperone.
